What is the process when ordering a service?
Firstly we will need to check if you are in one of our coverage areas, and if you are in range of one of our High sites. We will then book a site survey where one of our installer teams will come to your home and confirm that we are able to see the High site and they will plan the install including the mounting position, cable route etc. If there is Line of Sight (LOS) our sales department contact you to confirm and to discuss service speeds that will be available, as well as gather any documents that they may need from you and onboard you into our broadband portal. Once all that is done a date and time is reserved for the installation. The entire process usually takes 5 to 10 Business days.
How long does it take from Order to Install?
For Rapidnet Wireless services, the process typically takes 5 to 10 business days.
This includes checking coverage, conducting a site survey, onboarding, signing up, and installing the necessary equipment.
For FTTH services provided by third-party partners, the timeline may vary:
If your home already has a fibre installation, the process can be faster, often within 7 to 10 working days.
If your home has never had fibre installed, the process may take longer, typically between 14 and 21 working days.
This includes a site survey and the installation, which involves running fibre from the roadside box to the inside of your home.
Do I get a Wi-Fi router included with my service?
Yes we will supply you with a basic Wi-Fi router, If you live in a larger home or expect to have more than 10 devices connected then we would suggest asking our sales staff or support staff about other Router options that would be better suited to your needs.
What can impact the Wi-Fi Routers performance?
There are a number of possible things that can impact your routers performance, these range from the distance you are from the router when connecting via Wi-Fi, the number of connected users and what they are doing on the network, even the building material used in your home can negatively affect the Wi-Fi signal. We have also seen in some cases that a Wi-Fi router too close to some flat screen TV sets can affect Wi-Fi Signal.
What speed do I need to Stream HD?
Usually a 10Mbps Broadband Express service is sufficient for HD streaming. Keep in mind that Xbox, Playstation, Steam and other downloads may affect your overall performance, as would others also using your Wi-Fi to download or stream content. It also depends on where you stream from, locally hosted or cached content from ShowMax, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime and others will perform and give a much better viewing experience than unofficial streaming sites. A VPN can often give you access to series and movies that are not available here but you may find that accessing local content while connected to your VPN gives you a poorer viewing experience.
What speed do I need to Stream 4K?
This does depend on the content provider so some degree, Netflix and YouTube for example offers better performance on smaller links but we would suggest no less than a 10Mbps, but would advise on at least a 20Mbps service. Keep in mind that Xbox, Playstation, Steam and other downloads may affect your overall performance, as would others also using your Wi-Fi to download or stream content. Do you offer a Voice service for home or on the go?
We also offer a home voice service that allows you to make and receive local and international calls. You can choose to use a physical IP phone or a VoIP app on your smartphone.
The service is not restricted to our network, so you can take your home phone with you wherever there is Wi-Fi or mobile data etc.
What does the Install Fee cover?
Our installation fee covers the time, labour, and fuel costs to install the equipment on your roof in the case of a Wireless installation.
For fibre installations the fee also covers time and materials but may exclude any device other than the Router that we supplied.
If you ever decide to cancel your service with us we will arrange to recover the equipment on the roof if applicable, or any Fibre equipment that would need to be recovered, the Router will remain yours.
What does the Installation entail?
For Rapidnet Wireless we install a service in your home we will mount a bracket on your roof, run an outdoor UV protected cable from the Radio, into your home to the install location of your Router. Our installation policy precludes us from running cables inside your ceiling, or installing other network equipment like range extenders or other routers. Our installers will setup and test the Router and supply you with the Wi-Fi Login details.
For Fibre services a fibre drop cable is installed from a fibre distribution box outside your home, usually at a wall box on your perimeter wall. Your Wi-Fi router may be shipped to you, or the installer may plug it in.
Can you setup my TV or other equipment?
No unfortunately not, the installer may be able give you some basic guidance on connecting your phone or TV to the Wi-Fi Router but they are not familiar with the multitude of phones, routes, TV etc. that are in many peoples homes.
What if the Radio equipment on the roof is damaged?
In the case of damaged equipment due to power surge or lighting there will be a replacement fee. We suggest adding the equipment to your household insurance if possible. If the equipment is faulty due to a manufacturing fault we will cover the cost based on the Manufacturers warranty if applicable.
My TV Box is buffering?
Firstly we suggest when buying a TV box to ensure that you get a well-known unit like the AppleTV or equivalent Android unit. The cheaper units often develop problems over time, are under powered or have weak built in Wi-Fi. At the very least we would suggest that the TV Box is plugged into the router via ethernet cable.
What if the fibre equipment is damaged?
In the case of a damaged ONU / ONT device, damaged fibre leads etc inside your property there will be a repair fee
